EQT Infrastructure engaged VIDA to assess physical climate, natural hazard and environmental risk across a global portfolio of communications infrastructure under evaluation for acquisition, within the timetable of a live transaction.
Assessment
VIDA evaluated every site against approximately 150 indicators across five domains: temperature and extreme heat; wind and cyclone intensity; water, including river and coastal flooding, extreme precipitation, water stress and dry spells; geophysical risk, covering landslide susceptibility, erosion and earthquake exposure; and environmental indicators, including biodiversity intactness, proximity to protected areas, tree cover loss and air quality. Governance indicators were assessed alongside. Results were modelled under two emissions pathways at 2030, 2050 and 2080, each indicator reported as both a value and a banded risk level.

Delivery
Findings were presented within VIDA’s platform, with access extended to the client’s transaction advisers, and in written reporting prepared for incorporation into the wider due diligence. Sites carrying high-priority risks were identified for further investigation. EQT Infrastructure retained access to the platform under licence for a period thereafter, using it to assess additional sites.
